XC Riding in Whistler
Terrie and Paul offered me to stay at there place for a night so it didn't take long to convince me. I took one and a half days off to enjoy some amazing riding. Suddenly the summer arrived and it is 30 degrees warm..
First we did "Cut yer bars". Paul riding on some slick rock in Whistler.
A lot of snow still in the hills.
.
Paul rippin it
Seppel riding down the same face.
We continued on the trail and did a wall ride.
Paul took a movie of me doing the wall ride. Somehow youtube didn't like it so I put it here to download (7mb).
The next day we went riding in the lost lake area. I really like this area since it has a bit of everything. Terrie riding again on some Whistler slick rock.
Paul picking up speed.
Later on I did Comfortably Numb. Well, I couldn't do the whole trail since there was too much snow. I could do only 8 km's of the 24. It is rated as an epic ride on the IMBA page.
Can you see the four bridges across the creek?
Another trail section. It was a really nice day, blue sky and warm. In the back you can see Mt. Sproat where we ski toured in winter.
More trail sections ...
.
From here on (Young Lust point) I couldn't continue due to snow. I did the ride a couple of years ago, here are some pics of my web page.
The downhill was nice, 3km without stopping.
Later on I did the "Kill me Thrill me" trail (More pics of the trail and of the Young Lust section can be found here. I did this with Malcolm and Andrew in '06 ). If you have a '08 rocky mountain catalogue have a look in it, you will find the location where this pic is taken.
Nice smooth single trail. Actually this trail doesn't has a lot of this. A lot is rooty, rocky and bumpy. I got really tired at the end and had to push up my bike sometimes.
Another bridge, nice work those guys do. I don't know how it is now days in Germany or in Europe but here in Canada or North America every small little town has a bike club which maintains the local trails.
I was pretty tired at the end. Firestarted is coming!
I had a huge burger with blue cheese and fried onions in the Whistler brew pub. It was only 4pm and so I thought I go for another ride. I did "River runs through it". I really nice trail with lots of stunts. About a year ago we rode it, here are some pictures of it. After an intense day of riding (I did four trails, started to ride at about 9am and stopped at 6pm with a couple of breaks in between) I drove home to Vancouver. Just after Creekside I had to stop at Function Junction because the road was blocked. Good that it was on the road and I was in my car and not on my bike.
Nice Mountains in the back, Tantalus Range.
Howe Sound
An old landing dock.
It was only friday and a long weekend was to come. I did one and a half days of riding and thought already about the things I could do tomorrow. Life doesn't get to boring in Vancouver.
